Sunday Sounds is a weekly music blog hosted here at Lassie Memo.
The purpose of Sunday Sounds is to share and discover upcoming artists and musical styles which may not otherwise be discovered. Think of it as free advertising for musicians and composers through social sharing. Anyone can join in – the more the merrier. Please do remember to link to your blog so that others can see what you share.
What to Do:
- Go to Soundcloud.com and click on the explore button.
- Choose a genre from the links at the left hand side and find a piece of music you really like.
- Share it. (Simple as that)
- Post the link to your blog post in the comments below
Since it is Burn’s Night, I thought I might highlight some lovely Scottish music in this week’s Sunday Sounds.
The first video is a cover of Auld Lang Syne by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, which is a fabulously lively version and always gets my toes tapping. We played this at the end of our wedding and everyone got involved.
The second link from Soundcloud is a beautiful cover of Ae Fond Kiss by Robert Burns from Lauren Dalgleish. I love the relaxing, lilting quality of the guitar and the purity of the vocals which enhances the tenderness associated with the song. Like a lot of traditional Scottish music, Ae Fond Kiss holds a wealth of emotion and is well worth a listen.
